Jones and Strutz Earns Women's Track Weekly honors

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's accolades celebrate a dominant performance against elite NCAA Division I competition and a record-shattering multi-event debut that leads the nation.

Track Athlete of the Week

Charity Jones, Madonna

Senior Charity Jones earns Track Athlete of the Week honors following an outstanding weekend at the South Florida Invitational (April 10-11). Competing primarily against NCAA Division I talent, Jones proved she belongs among the elite. She secured a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a blistering 53.41, hitting the NAIA "A" Standard. Jones also impressed in the 200-meter dash, finishing 10th in a massive field of 60 runners with a "B" Standard time of 23.99.

Field Athlete of the Week

Lindsey Strutz, Aquinas

(Sr., Brighton, Mich.)

Senior Lindsey Strutz made a massive splash in her outdoor season debut, dominating the Heptathlon at the Hillsdale Mid-Week Multi (April 8-9). Strutz claimed first place with a school-record 4,860 points, a lifetime best that surpassed her own previous Aquinas record by 320 points. Her performance included another school record in the Javelin with a toss of 39.61m (129-11).

Across the seven events—100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin, and 800m—Strutz was clinical, earning an NAIA "A" Standard and propelling herself to the No. 1 ranking in the NAIA for the heptathlon by a margin of 73 points.
