2024 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll Announced

Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) women's soccer head coaches have selected defending regular season co-champion, Aquinas, as the preseason favorite for the quickly approaching 2024 campaign. The Saints earned 166 total points and 10 of 13 first place votes to earn the top spot in the poll for the fourth consecutive season. Defending WHAC tournament champion, UNOH, checks in at the two spot with 151 total points and a first place vote while defending co-champion, Siena Heights, is predicted to finish third with the remaining two first place votes and 149 points. 

Aquinas was 9-0-2 in WHAC play in 2023 and finished the season with a 17-1-4 overall record. They suffered their lone loss of the season in the NAIA National Championship quarterfinal round. The Saints have won at least of a share of the WHAC regular season title for the last four seasons and look to continue their success in 2024. 

UNOH finished 8-2-1 and in third place in the 2023 WHAC regular season, but ran the table in the tournament to earn the 2023 tournament title including a shootout thriller over #2 Aquinas in the semifinals. The Racers were 14-6-3 overall and advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Championship a season ago. 

Defending co-champion of the 2023 regular season, Siena Heights received the two remaining first place votes and the third place spot in the preseason poll. The Saints won their first WHAC regular season title since 2009 a season ago and finished the season 15-1-6 overall and 9-0-2 in WHAC play. SHU was one of three teams to represent the WHAC in the NAIA National Championship, winning a first round game before falling the second round. 

Poll Methodology: Each WHAC head coach ranks teams 1-13 depending on their predicted finish for the 2024 season. First place votes are worth 13 points, second are worth 12 and so on. 

The regular season begins on August 15 with WHAC play starting on September 11.
