Walendzak and Rivera Earn Weekly Honors

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's honors highlight an explosive scoring performance from Lawrence Tech and a comprehensive defensive effort from an Indiana Tech freshman.

Offensive Player of the Week

Alyson Walendzak, Lawrence Tech

(So., A - Commerce Township, Mich.)

Alyson Walendzak earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after a massive statistical output for the Blue Devils. Over two contests, Walendzak racked up 11 total points, highlighted by a 6-goal performance in a dominant 18-6 victory over Bethel. She maintained high efficiency throughout the week, putting 13 of her 15 shots on goal (86.7% SOG) and converting three free-position opportunities.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lilliana Rivera, Indiana Tech

(Fr., M - Munster, Ind.)

Freshman Lilliana Rivera secured Defensive Player of the Week honors after filling the stat sheet to help the Warriors to two conference wins. Rivera was a force in the midfield and defensive third, totaling 15 draw controls, 7 ground balls, and 5 caused turnovers. Her presence in transition was equally felt, as she added 3 goals and an assist to her defensive tallies, anchoring a unit that allowed only seven goals combined across two matches.
