Davis and Farrell Earn Weekly WLAX Honors
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.
This week's honors go to a high-scoring freshman from Aquinas and a versatile defensive anchor from Indiana Tech.
Offensive Player of the Week
Sophia Davis, Aquinas
Freshman Sophia Davis earns her first career Offensive Player of the Week honor after a prolific week for the Saints. Davis accounted for 10 total points across two conference matchups, including a standout performance against Bethel where she netted five goals and an assist. Despite the team's narrow losses, Davis proved to be a consistent threat, finishing the week with six goals, four assists, and an impressive 80% shots-on-goal percentage.
Defensive Player of the Week
Michelle Farrell, Indiana Tech
Michelle Farrell secured Defensive Player of the Week honors after playing a pivotal role in two major wins for the Warriors, including a win over No. 10 Marian. Farrell was a force across the entire field, racking up 6 ground balls, 8 draw controls, and 4 caused turnovers. In addition to her defensive dominance, she contributed 5 goals and 2 assists, proving to be a true transition threat for Indiana Tech.
