Covington and Thigpen Earn WBB Weekly Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Basketball Player of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, WHAC SIDs have chosen Indiana Tech's Taylor Covington as the Offensive Player of the Week and Siena Heights' Jam Thigpen as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Covington had two 20+ point games for the Warriors in wins over Lawrence Tech and Defiance last week. The senior guard averaged 22.5 points on 46% shooting and also added three steals, five assists and 29 rebounds. This is her second offensive player of the week honor this season.  

Thigpen earns her second defensive player of the week honor for efforts in leading the Saints to a 2-0 week. The junior recorded three steals, five assists and 29 rebounds (16 defensive) in two games. Thigpen now has 13 double-figure rebound games, including three of 18 or more.
