UNOH's Lawson, Cornerstone's Goodwin win Final WBB Player of the Week Honors
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Basketball Players of the Week, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
WHAC SIDs have chosen Alysia Lawson (UNOH) as the Offensive Player of the Week and Mackenzie Goodwin (Cornerstone) as the Defensive Player of the Week. Lawson ties the WHAC record for career Player of the Week awards with 13. This week, the junior averaged 29 points per game in a 1-1 week for the Racers. She scored 31 points in an OT loss to Siena Heights, her sixth 30+ point game this season. She shot 51% from the field and also added nine rebounds, five steals and two blocks. Mackenzie Goodwin led Cornerstone to a 1-1 week thanks to her stellar defense. The senior tallied 11 steals and added two blocks while grabbing five defensive rebounds and averaging 9.5 points per game.
