Conference Honors for Women's Basketball

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Joslyn Narber of Aquinas College garnered Player of the Year honors to lead the 2009-10 edition of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Basketball awards. Concordia University head coach Andrea Gorski and Davenport University mentor Mark Youngs were named co-coaches of the year for their leadership on the court. Concordia freshman Hannah Sabol was named the Newcomer of the Year after a stellar year and University of Michigan-Dearborn head coach Mary Pinkowski received Champions of Character Coach honors.
Top star Narber led the conference in scoring with a 19.82 season average (7th nationally) and was outstanding behind the three-point arc at 44.6% for third-best in the country. In all, she ranked in the top 50 for eight individual statistical categories. The award means Aquinas swept both the men's and women's top honors.
Gorski orchestrated one of Concordia's best seasons to date to be named a co-coach of the year. The Cardinals secured the program's first-ever home playoff game with a regular season record of 18-12. Fellow co-coach of the year Young guided Davenport to a 27-2 overall record and a first-place national ranking that lasted several weeks.
Sabol ranked in the top 50 players nationally in five stat categories during her rookie campaing. Averaging 14.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, she provided the spark Concordia needed for its best season in nearly 20 years.
In addition to All-Conference honors, the WHAC released All-Academic, Champions of Character, All-Newcomer and All-Defensive teams.
