Walter and Oyer Earn Final Softball Player of the Week honors

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Softball Player of the Week awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. These honors are nominated by the league's host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's accolades celebrate a clutch, power-hitting performance that secured postseason positioning and a dominant stretch in the circle for a junior workhorse at Madonna.

Softball Player of the Week

Carlye Walter, Indiana Tech

(Jr., RHP/3B - Lowell, Ind.)

Carlye Walter earns her second Player of the Week honor of the season after a legendary performance in a critical doubleheader sweep of Cleary. Walter was nearly impossible to retire, going 6-for-8 (.750) at the plate with five of her six hits going for extra bases. She totaled 9 RBIs and scored 4 runs, but her week was defined by one swing: a walk-off grand slam in extra innings that officially secured the No. 2 seed for the Warriors in the upcoming WHAC Tournament. She finished the series with a staggering 2.000 slugging percentage.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Camille Oyer, Madonna

Junior Camille Oyer takes home Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the Crusaders to three victories during a perfect 3-0 week in the circle. Oyer was an efficiency specialist, throwing 13.0 innings and allowing only one earned run for a minuscule 0.54 ERA. Her week featured a dominant five-inning performance against Lourdes and a combined nine strikeouts across appearances against Cumberlands (Ky.) and Defiance. With a 0.54 WHIP and zero walks issued over 13 frames, Oyer provided a masterclass in control and command to keep Madonna's momentum surging.
