Anteau and Sandberg Named Softball Players of the Week

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Softball Player of the Week awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. These honors are nominated by the league's host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's accolades highlight a breakout offensive performance from Madonna and a historic, no-hit effort from a freshman arm at Cornerstone.

Softball Player of the Week

Brynn Anteau, Madonna

(So., INF)

Sophomore Brynn Anteau earns Player of the Week honors after leading the Crusaders' offense during a prolific 5-1 stretch. Anteau was a model of consistency at the plate, hitting .571 (12-for-21) across six games. She displayed significant power, totaling two home runs, two triples, and 8 RBIs while scoring 8 runs of her own.

Her week was highlighted by a clutch performance in a high-scoring 10-9 victory over Indiana Tech, where she went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. Anteau finished the week with a staggering .905 slugging percentage, proving to be one of the most dangerous bats in the conference.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Kara Sandberg, Cornerstone

(Fr., P/OF)

Freshman Kara Sandberg takes home Pitcher of the Week honors after an incredible five-appearance run that included a piece of program history. Sandberg went a perfect 4-0 in the circle, headlined by a no-hitter in a dominant 8-0 victory over Defiance.

Across 25.0 innings of work, Sandberg surrendered only two earned runs, finishing the week with a minuscule 0.56 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. She racked up 21 strikeouts and issued only nine walks. Whether starting or coming in for the save, Sandberg was nearly untouchable, allowing opponents to cross the plate in only one of her five appearances.
