Badarne, Bianco and Yolkov named MVB Players of the Week

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its latest Men's Volleyball Player of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions and selected via a vote by the conference's sports information directors.

This week's honors features a mix of dominance from Lourdes University and a standout defensive performance from Lawrence Tech.

Attacker of the Week

Jaber Badarne, Lourdes

For the third consecutive week, Jaber Badarne has been named the WHAC Attacker of the Week. Badarne was the engine behind a perfect 3-0 week for the Gray Wolves, racking up 49 kills across nine sets for a staggering average of 5.44 kills per set. He helped Lourdes to a 3-0 record in WHAC play. 

Setter of the Week

Joey Bianco, Lourdes

Joey Bianco takes home Setter of the Week honors after orchestrating the Lourdes offense to three straight sweeps. Bianco averaged 11.78 assists per set, totaling 106 helpers over the three-match stretch. His best outing came against Cornerstone, where he tallied 34 assists and added eight digs. His precision allowed the Gray Wolves to maintain a high-octane offense throughout their road trip through Ohio and Michigan.

Defender of the Week

Yegor Volkov, Lawrence Tech

Freshman middle blocker Yegor Volkov stepped up big for the Blue Devils to earn Defender of the Week. Volkov was a wall at the net, recording 15 total blocks (14 assisted, 1 solo) over three matches. He averaged 1.67 blocks per set, with his most impressive defensive performance coming against Defiance, where he notched 9 total blocks. He also contributed offensively with 27 kills on the week.
