WHAC Men's Soccer Postseason Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its 2011 postseason honors for men's soccer after Cornerstone University (Mich.) won the regular-season championship with a 5-1-0 league record. Cornerstone's head coach Mark Bell took Coach of the Year and Coach of Character honors. Golden Eagle senior Isaac Grotenhuis was the Offensive Player of the Year and Indiana Tech defender Mark Baptist earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Bell is in his 13th season at Cornerstone and compiled a 124-92-25 mark prior to 2011. This year marks the fourth time he has been named the conference's coach of the year.

Grotenhuis scored nine goals and had three assists to lead Cornerstone. Four of the midfielder's goals were game-winners and placed him at No. 24 in the country for that stat category. Baptist led a defense that allowed only seven goals during conference games. The senior defender also had four assists.

Cornerstone (11-6-0/5-1-0) received a bye in the opening round of the conference tournament and will host the winner of #4 Indiana Tech/#5 Madonna University.

In addition to All-Conference awards, the WHAC named its All-Academic Team for juniors and above with a 3.25 GPA, and its Champions of Character Team comprised of one member per team who most represents the five core character values - Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
