2024-25 Men's Basketball All-Conference Honors Released

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its 2024-25 Men's Basketball awards. All-Conference teams are selected by a vote of conference head coaches. First and Second Teams consist of 10 members each, plus ties. The All-Freshman and All-Defensive Teams each consist of five players, plus ties. Individual awards include Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character Coach.

Player of the Year: Shaunn Monroe, Lourdes

Last season's WHAC Newcomer of the Year, Shaunn Monroe, excelled for Lourdes this season. The senior guard averaged 21.1 points per game while shooting 46% from the field and 40% from three-point range during WHAC play. He also tallied 40 steals, 77 assists, and 91 rebounds during the 20-game WHAC schedule. The Charleston, W.Va., native helped Lourdes to a 21-7 overall record and 15-5 mark in WHAC play, earning the #2 seed in the conference tournament. He was also named to the First Team All-Conference list. This marks the first time in program history that Lourdes has had a WHAC Player of the Year.

Defensive Player of the Year: Javel Lewis, Indiana Tech

Indiana Tech's stingy defense earned them a WHAC regular-season title, and Javel Lewis played a key role. The senior forward appeared in 18 WHAC games, tallying 16 blocks, 3 steals, and 76 defensive rebounds. The Warriors allowed a league-best 66.4 points per game, nearly 4 points better than the next team. This is Lewis's second season on the All-Defensive team.

Newcomer of the Year: Jimmy Salamone, Lawrence Tech

A senior transfer, Lawrence Tech's Jimmy Salamone made an immediate impact this season. Salamone appeared in all 20 WHAC games for the Blue Devils, averaging 21 points per contest on 48% shooting from the field and 43% from three-point range. The Akron, Ohio, native also added 26 steals, 2 blocks, 34 assists, and 82 rebounds in conference action. Salamone was also named to the First Team All-Conference list. Salamone is the first WHAC Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Year for Lawrence Tech.

Coach of the Year: Ted Albert, Indiana Tech

Indiana Tech Head Coach Ted Albert was voted Coach of the Year for the fourth time in the last six seasons. In his eighth season, Albert led the Warriors to a regular-season championship, the team's third in the last four seasons and fourth in the last six. Indiana Tech finished the regular season with a 21-6 record and 18-2 mark in WHAC play.

Champion of Character Coach: Ricky Yahn, Concordia

Ricky Yahn was voted WHAC Champion of Character Coach. Coach Yahn just completed his 12th season leading the Concordia-Ann Arbor men's basketball program. He is recognized for exemplifying the NAIA's five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

In addition to the All-Conference awards, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic and Champions of Character teams. The All-Academic Team consists of sophomores or above with a cumulative 3.25 GPA who have been at their school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team comprises one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
