Concordia-Ann Arbor Claims First-Ever WHAC Dance Championship
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the first time ever, Concordia-Univeristy Ann Arbor claimed the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Competitive Dance championship on Friday evening in Grand Rapids. The Cardinals become the first team not named Aquinas to win the title in the now six-year history of the event. Concorida did so in its final season of competition in a poetic ending to the programs WHAC tenure. Concordia set the tone for the event in its prelim routine, tallying a championship-best score of 86.1. They followed that up with an 84.93 in the finals, which account for 75% of the total score. Their average was 85.23 to win the title.
Aquinas College, which had one each of the previous five WHAC titles, was close behind in second place. They scored a 78.77 in their prelim routine followed by an 85.07 in the finals, which was the highest finals score of the championship. Their total ended up at 84.02, leaving them a point and change short of Concordia.
Siena Heights checked in at third place with a prelim score of 81.3, final score of 82.43 for a total of 82.16. Lourdes finished in fourth (80.08), followed by Madonna (79.7), Marian (79.1) and Indiana Tech (61.43) who was competiting in its first-ever WHAC championship event.
