UNOH's Otero, Defiance's Gregg Named Players of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Baseball Players of the Week Award, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
This week, the WHAC SIDs have chosen Eliomar Otero (UNOH) as the Player of the Week and Gunner Gregg (Defiance) as the Pitcher of the Week. Otero had a huge week for the Racers, helping them to a 3-0 record. The junior drove in 16 runs on 10-of-13 hitting with half of those hits going for extra bases including: one double, one triple and three home runs. Gregg had a big week for Defiance. He made a start against Rochester Christian, tossing a complete-game shutout, striking out nine and allowing just one hit in seven innings of work. The shutout win was the first since 2020 for the Yellow Jackets and the first individual complete-game shutout since 2019.
