LTU's Reed, UNOH's Mauney Named Baseball Players of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Baseball Players of the Week Award, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
This week, the WHAC SIDs have chosen Trent Reed (Lawrence Tech) as the Player of the Week and Josh Mauney (UNOH) as the Pitcher of the Week. Reed helped Lawrence Tech to four wins last week with a stellar effort at the plate. The senior hit .412 and slugged .824 thanks to a 7-for-17 effort at the plate with two doubles, a triple and a home run. He also drove in nine and scored seven while drawing four walks. This is his first player of the week honor this season. Mauney wins his second pitcher of the week honor. The junior right-hander came on in relief to earn a win, working five innings, scattering three hits and striking out six without allowing a walk. He improves to 2-0 on the season.
