Defiance's Bobek, Madonna's Collins Named Baseball Players of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Baseball Players of the Week Award, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
This week, the WHAC SIDs have chosen Tim Bobek (Defiance) as the Player of the Week and Carson Collins (Madonna) as the Pitcher of the Week. Bobek had a huge series against Grace, slashing .778/.818/1.444. He was 3-3 with two doubles and two RBIs in the Friday win. He finished the weekend with two doubles, two triples, six RBI and two walks. Collins was stellar in his outing on the mound for Madonna, picking up a win while going six innings allowing just one run on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks in a win over Judson.
