Josh Judy Drafted by the Cleveland Indians
Fort Wayne, Ind. -- Indiana Tech junior pitcher Josh Judy was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 34th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. The right-hander, from Morgantown, West Virginia, was the 1,034th overall player taken in the draft.
Judy, a two-time NAIA All American pitcher, was 8-1 with a 1.58 ERA in 2007. Judy is also the two time WHAC Pitcher of the Year (2006-2007) and two time All WHAC first team selection (2006-2007).
Tech head coach Randy Stegall spoke to Judy Friday after he received the phone call from Cleveland.
"Josh was very excited about the opportunity to fulfill a life long dream," said Stegall. "But a little disappointed he didn't go a little bit higher in the draft. He told me he didn't know what he was going to do about signing or coming back for his senior season." While he decides on his future, Judy will be back in the Valley league pitching for the Haymarket Senators.
"Regardless, this is great for our program," Stegall continued. "Obviously you can't replace a guy like Josh, but this is a decision for Josh and his family to make. Whatever decision Josh makes, Indiana Tech supports him 100 percent."
