UM-Dearborn Sits atop WHAC Hockey Preseason Coaches’ Poll
With the 2023-24 Men's Ice Hockey Season beginning, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Men's Ice Hockey Preseason Coaches Poll. The conference head coaches have selected UM-Dearborn as the preseason favorite with the Wolverines receiving five of seven first place votes. Checking in close behind in second place is the Indiana Tech Warriors who received a first place vote and 41 total points. The final first place vote went to Lawrence Tech who checks in at third with 36 points.
UM-Dearborn won the WHAC tournament a season ago, snapping Indiana Tech's streak of two-consecutive tournament titles. The Wolverines finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 22-13-2 (17-6-1) record. The Warriors of Indiana Tech claimed their third consecutive regular season title in 2022-23, finishing the campaign with a 26-6 (15-2) record. Lawrence Tech 24-10-1 (14-8-1) bowed out in the quarterfinal round of the tournament while Concordia 19-16-3 (11-12-1) advanced to the finals before falling to UM-Dearborn. Aquinas, 16-23 (12-17), Cleary 11-21 (8-16), and Rochester 1-28 (0-21) round out the 2023-24 Coaches' Poll.
