Hockey Comes to Cleary in 2019-20

HOWELL, Mich. - Cleary announced it will instate men's and women's ice hockey for the 2019-20 academic year. The addition of the sports bring Cleary's varsity total to 18. Cleary's men's team will compete in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), which recently joined the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) as a Division I conference. The WHAC does not currently sponsor women's hockey as a championship sport. The Cougars bring the number of men's teams in the WHAC to seven (Aquinas, Concordia, Indiana Tech, Lawrence Tech, UM-Dearborn, and Rochester).

Cleary also announced Colin Ronayne as the head men's coach and Matthew Kendziuk as head coach for the women's team. Both teams will practice and call The Hartland Sports Center in Hartland, Mich. home ice. New locker rooms and coaches' areas will be added to the facility to accommodate the programs.
