Garett Mansfield Named Mike Dean-Patrick Moore SID of the Year
HOWELL, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Garett Mansfield of Defiance College as its 2025-26 Mike Dean-Patrick Moore Sports Information Director of the Year. The award, voted on by SIDs, was presented at the WHAC's Spring Meeting hosted by Madonna University. Mansfield earns the award for the first time in his career and becomes the first Defiance SID to earn the honor. His nomination will now be forwarded to the NAIA for national SID of the Year consideration.
The honor, named after former Madonna SID Patrick Moore who passed away unexpectedly in 2015 and long-time WHAC statistician Mike Dean, recognizes outstanding sports information professionals as chosen by head sports information directors in the conference.
Mansfield has served as the Director of Athletic Communications at Defiance since October of 2022. Mansfield helped tranistion Defiance to the WHAC in 2024, and has been a well-respected SID in the conference since day one. He worked over 90% of Defiance home games as he was operating down a staff member in his department for the majority of the season. His accomplishments for the year were abundant and included Increasing social media growth by 27%, assisted in the addition of three new department sports, created digital assets and ran a social media campaign to launch DC's athletic capital campaign, helped raise nearly $15,000 on Giving Tuesday, secured local media exposure in both Toledo and state-wide markets, coordinated the departments Swarm Awards, served as the name reader at Defiance's commencement, and was the Huddle Leader for the campus' Fellowship of Christian Athletes group.
