Indiana Tech wins 2024-25 Fred Smith Cup
LIVONIA, Mich. - For the eighth consecutive year, Indiana Tech has claimed the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference's (WHAC) Fred Smith All-Sports Cup as announced at the WHAC spring meetings, hosted by Madonna University. Indiana Tech earned 216 total points under the first year of the new format which takes into account the seven highest finishes each from men's and women's sports. New this year, each institution must count any sport in which all 13 WHAC member schools participate in their seven sports per gender. A complete breakdown of the new point totals and scoring system can be found here. The new scoring system awards a varied number of points depending on total full-WHAC member participation numbers. It also awards five points to tournament winners where applicable.
The eighth-straight cup for the Warriors, surpasses Aquinas' previous record of seven-straight cup wins from 1997-98 through 2003-04. Indiana Tech holds the second most trophies in the WHAC with eight overall, trailing Aquinas with eleven total.
Aquinas checks in at second place with 179 total points followed by Lawrence Tech in third at 171 and Cornerstone in fourth with 164 points. Madonna rounds out the top-five with 160.5 points. Just 18.5 points separated the number two and number five teams.
Indiana Tech led all members with nine regular season titles. They also claimed four tournament title. Aquinas earned three regular season titles and three tournament championships followed by Lawrence Tech with five regular season titles and three tournament titles.
