Aaron Gillespie Named WHAC Assistant Commissioner

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Commissioner Eric Ward has announced changes to the conference administrative team in advance of the 2024-25 academic year. Aaron served as the conference Sports Information Director in a part-time role in 2023-24 and has been elevated to serve as the conference's Assistant Commissioner. Gillespie will continue his duties as the WHAC Sports Information and communications lead in this role in addition to new sport administration duties to serve member institutions and student-athletes.

"We were excited to have Aaron join the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference as our Sports Information Director in a part-time role in 2023-24, and even more excited about his new full-time role as Assistant Commissioner and Director of Communications," said Commissioner Ward. "Aaron has a wealth of NAIA experience and knowledge, and his considerable talents and skills will help raise the conference to the next level, benefitting all our member institutions and their stakeholders."

With the restructuring, longtime Assistant Commissioner and WHAC Impact Award Winner, Larry Bos, will continue to serve the conference as its Treasurer and Eligibility Chair.

"I also want to thank Larry Bos for his many years of dedicated service to the WHAC. While Larry is stepping back from his role as assistant commissioner, he will continue to be a valuable member of the conference staff serving as treasurer and eligibility chair. Larry has been an indispensable resource and mentor to me in my first 18 months as WHAC commissioner," noted Ward.

Aaron began his career as a Sports Information Director at NAIA Menlo College (Calif.) where he covered sports information, marketing and game operations tasks for the department's 14 varsity athletics teams. Gillespie spent nearly nine years with the Oaks of Menlo College from 2012 to 2020 and was elevated to Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Communications in 2016. He also was voted by his peers to serve as the GSAC SID liaison to the executive committee and is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC).
