[Cross Country] Wolfe Named Head Cross Country Coach at Indiana Tech

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Josh Wolfe has been promoted to the position of head men's and women's cross country coach at Indiana Tech effective July 1, 2013, announced by Director of Athletics Martin Neuhoff. Wolfe has served the last three seasons as an assistant coach for the cross country teams, as well as the national champion track & field squads.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Cornerstone University administrator Dave Grube as the conference's 2012-13 Athletics Director of the Year. The award, chosen annually by a ballot of conference athletic directors, is the second for Grube. He previously won the award in 2010.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - (FULL RELEASE) Indiana Tech jumped to No. 16 in the final standings of the 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup thanks to a pair of national championships in outdoor track & field. The Warriors also earned points this spring in baseball to lead the league with 485.75 points. Aquinas finished in the 19th spot with 454 points after scoring in men's tennis and both outdoor track and field sports. Oklahoma Baptist claimed its first win with 964 total points. The Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Scoring is based on 12 sports (six men's sports and six women's sports) at the national level throughout the 2012-13 athletic season. Points are earned in fall sports, winter sports, and spring sports.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech will bring collegiate hockey to Fort Wayne with the addition of a men's ice hockey team in fall 2014. The Warriors will play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) members were honored at the annual NAIA-SIDA Workshop for their excellence in publications. Davenport, Marygrove, and Northwestern Ohio were recognized with national awards for sport brochures and Websites. Davenport took first place for an outsourced Website for its athletic site (www.dupanthers.com) while newcomer Marygrove was10th. Davenport also placed in the top 10 for volleyball brochure, women's basketball brochure, and men's soccer brochure. Northwestern Ohio also had a couple of top 10 finished.The awards are selected by a committee of judges comprised of NAIA sports information directors and other media. The judging committees vary for each category.

KANSAS CITY - Madonna pitcher Jeremy Gooding was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American while Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) member institutions placed 22 baseball players on the Daktronics-NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete list. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The honor, named after long-time WHAC statistician Mike Dean of Aquinas, recognizes outstanding sports information professionals as chosen by SIDs in the conference.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - (RESULTS) Davenport claimed its third consecutive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) All-Sports Trophy with 88 total points. The award was presented to athletics director Paul Lowden at the annual WHAC meeting on June 3. Started in 1994, the All-Sports trophy is computed using the highest finish in 10 conference sports (five women and five men) for each school. Each sport champion is awarded points based on the number of schools participating in each sport. For a sport with all 12 WHAC schools participating, 12 points are awarded for first place with second receiving 11 points and so on. For a sport with only eight WHAC schools participating, eight points are awarded for first place with second receiving seven points and so on.

KANSAS CITY - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced this year's Daktronics-NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes for the sport of golf. In all, 20 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) golfers were honored with the award. Each nominee must be submitted by the institution's head coach, maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and be a junior or above in academic standing.

[Track & Field] Indiana Tech Sweeps NAIA OT&F National Titles

MARIAN, Ind. - (Team Results | Individual Results) - Indiana Tech swept the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships with both the men's and women's team titles. The team championships for Indiana Tech are the first for each program. Warriors head coach Doug Edgar was honored as the Men's and Women's Coach of the Year for leading both teams to the title. In the men's event, Cornerstone and Siena Heights finished 16th and 17th while Aquinas tied for 34th and Davenport tied for 49th. On the women's side, Cornerstone tied for 14th, Aquinas was 23rd, and SHU tied for 30th.

KANSAS CITY - Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tennis players received postseason honors from the NAIA as All-Americans and Scholar-Athletes were released. The NAIA also released its postseason coaches polls and Aquinas appeared at No. 8 and Northwestern Ohio landed at No. 15 in the men's poll while the Davenport women ended up at #22 and Northwestern Ohio women received votes.

[Women's Golf] Madonna Ends Women's Golf Season

LINCOLN, Neb. - (RESULTS) - Madonna finished it's NAIA Women's Golf National Championship run in the 20th spot, just missing the cut for the final day by three places. The Crusaders ended with a three-day score of 1006. The top 17 teams and top 40 individuals advance to the final round at the par-72 Wilderness Ridge Golf Club.

MARIAN, Ind. - (RESULTS) Jeslyn Zimmerly made the most of her first national championship, winning the women's pole vault with a height of 3.70 meters to become just the second pole vault national champion in Indiana Tech history. The freshman set a new personal best and joined Igor Morales, who won the men's pole vault last year. Five other Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) athletes earned All-American status at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
