Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Veteran Aquinas College women's assistant basketball coach Ray Fron has accepted a head coaching position at Spring Hill College.
Located in Mobile, Al, Spring Hill College, the third oldest Jesuit college in the country, competes as a NAIA Div. 1 institution. Fron, a native from Grand Rapids, MI and a graduate of Catholic Central High school joined head coach Linda Nash during Nash's first season as head coach twelve years ago. During that period, Fron has assisted in developing Aquinas College into a perennial powerhouse. The Saints are coming off their fourth consecutive 20-plus winning season and two trips to the NAIA national tournament in the last four years. During that period, the Saints have boosted six All-Americans and numerous All-Conference performers.
Nash comments, "I am so happy for Ray Fron. He has contributed so much to our women's basketball program over the 12 years at Aquinas College. He has wanted to be a head coach for a while and I think Spring Hill College is very fortunate to get a quality coach of his caliber. He is a hard worker, a knowledgeable coach and most importantly a good person. He cares about his players. Our friendship will live on."

Prior to coaching at Aquinas College, Fron was the girl's varsity basketball coach at Central Catholic High School in Modesto, CA., from 1992-96 where he led the program to its first ever state sectional playoffs and recorded a school record number of victories. Fron upon completing his undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University was a Special Education teacher the past nine years at Pinewood Middle School in the Kentwood district. He will complete his Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching in the fall from Aquinas College.
