Edwardsville, Ill. -- Indiana Tech junior Alissa McKaig set her 2nd NAIA national record on Saturday winning the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:39.04, 5 seconds faster than the previous record set in 2005. McKaig, a Michigan State transfer who graduated from Concordia High School in Fort Wayne, set the new NAIA record in the women's 10,000-meter run on Thursday with a time of 34:22.95. In other events Saturday and late Friday:
Overall, the Indiana Tech women finished in 14th place with 20 points and the Indiana Tech men finished in 23rd place with 14 points. Indiana Tech is in its first year for track and field and sent 21 student-athletes to the NAIA Outdoor Track National Championship to compete in 19 events. The event is being held at the University of Southern Illinois in Edwardsville, Ill. |
