Grand Rapids, Mich. - The NAIA PING All-Region teams have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America and Davenport placed three student-athletes on the Central Region 1st team. PING All-Region teams are selected based on outstanding season play for the 2007-2008 school year. The four All-Region teams consist of 15 players and members of the PING All-Region teams are eligible for PING All-America honors. Nick Boone, Kevin Palmer and Kale Waaso all were named to the Central Region's 1st Team after outstanding seasons for the Panthers. This past fall the trio helped Davenport claim its 2nd straight WHAC Title and this spring, they led the team to its first ever Region VIII Championship which allowed them to qualify for the National Championships for the first time in school history. Boone, a Junior from Wyoming, MI led the Panthers in scoring average heading into the National Tournament with a 74.4 average. Nick was named to the All-WHAC 1st Team and posted a school record 67 this fall. Palmer, a Freshman from Sarnia, ON has been the leader this spring for DU as he finished 3rd place overall in the Region VIII Championships to earn All-Region Honors. Palmer is 2nd on the team with a 74.8 scoring average. Waaso, a Freshman from South Haven, MI was tied for third on the team in scoring with an 18-hole average of 75.3. Waaso is also a member of the Men's Basketball team at Davenport. |
