Grand Rapids, Mich. -- With the spring sports season coming to a close last weekend, the final tabulations were made for the 2007-08 All-Sport Championship, revealing that Aquinas College has come away with their ninth all-time award, besting Madonna University by 1.5 points in the final standings.
   
The Saints, who were the leaders after the fall and winter calculations, held onto the top stop with 40 total points.  Runner-up Madonna finished with 38.5.
 
Aquinas used champsionships in men's cross country, men's basketball, women's soccer and women's golf to take the WHAC's most coveted award.
 
Runner-up Madonna closed the gap with conference championships in baseball and softball this spring.
 
Cornerstone University finished in third place after winning the 2006-07 All-Sport title.  The Golden Eagles shared a women's basketball regular season championship with Davenport University and used their men's golf championship to finish with 35.5 total points.
 
Indiana Tech finished in fourth place with 31.5 points followed by a tie for fifth between Davenport and Siena Heights.  Both institutions finished with 27 total points.
 
Rounding out the 2007-08 standings were Concordia (19.5 points) and UM-Dearborn (12.5 points).
 
Aquinas College athletics director Terry Bocian will be presented with the 2007-08 All-Sport Championship trophy at the June meeting of the WHAC Executive Board.
