GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Concordia University junior Aaron Hacias and Aquinas College senior Dave Ottenwess have been honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference as the Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for April 14, 2008.

Hacias, a Sterling Heights, Michigan, native, hit at a .412 clip through six games for the Cardinals. The junior second baseman went 7-for-17 at the plate with three doubles, a home run and three RBIs while also drawing six walks and scoring 10 runs. Hacias now stands three doubles shy of the Concordia doubles record and is in the toop-10 list for runs scored and extra-base h its.

Ottenwess, a Grand Rapids, Michigan, native, went 1-0 on the mound for the Saints, picking up the win over WHAC leader Indiana Tech with a complete game, five-hitter. Ottenwess scattered the five hits while allowing just one run and striking out a pair of Warriors for the victory.

LEVI CHESHIRE (MADONNA): Hit .571 (4-for-7) with two doubles a triple and two RBIs in two games.
BRENT CORK (SIENA HEIGHTS): Hit .400 (6-for-15) with two doubles and a RBI in four games.
STEVE DOWDING (INDIANA TECH): Hit .556 (5-for-9) with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs in three games.
TODD PETERS (AQUINAS): Hit .375 (6-for-16) with three doubles, a homer and five RBIs over six games.

NOTABLE BASEBALL PITCHING PERFORMANCES
JUSTIN GAUTHIER (CONCORDIA): Went 0-0 with a save, fanning three over six innings of work.
ALEX MAYNARD (SIENA HEIGHTS): Went 1-0 with four K's over eight innings in a win over Aquinas.
ERIC SHERRILL (INDIANA TECH): Went 1-0 with six K's in just over five innings or work versus Aquinas.
