GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A pair of Madonna University Crusaders have been honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference for the efforts on the field last week.  Junior catcher Danielle Richardson takes home her second Player of the Week honor, while freshman pitcher Jess Irwin is the Pitcher of the Week.

Irwin put together a week for the record books, becoming the first MU pitcher to hurl a no-hitter since the 2003 season and just the second freshman ever to accomplish the feat in a 10-0 blanking of Midway College.  Irwin also set a new single game strikeout record in that game with 17.  Irwin went 2-1 on the week with 30 strikeouts and just four earned runs allowed in 21 innings of work.

Teammate Danielle Richardson has earned her second Player of the Week award for the season, hitting .333 and slugging 381 over a seven game stretch.  Richardson, a native of Flint, Michigan, went 7-for-21 with two runs scored, a double and three RBIs.
