GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Madonna University senior pitcher Will Kennedy and Indiana Tech senior second baseman Shane Tirey have been honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference as the Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively for March 31, 2008.

Kennedy stepped into the MU record books, becoming the career strikeout leader when he fanned seven Warriors in a 5-1 WHAC victory last week.  Kennedy surpassed the previous record held by Derek Dufrane with his fifth strikeout in that game and now stands at 199 for his career.  In the victory, Kennedy went six-and-one-third innings, scattering four hits and allowing just one unearned run for his second win of the season.

Tirey is the WHAC Player of the Week after hitting .400 over a six game stretch last week which saw the Warriors go 4-2.  Tirey went 8-for-20 at the plate with three doubles and three RBIs while slugging .550 and helping his team to a 4-2 start to conference play.
