GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Concordia University teammates Zane Johnston and Drew Linder have been named WHAC baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively in the second week of honors for the 2008 season.

Johnston, a sophomore centerfielder from Ionia, Michigan, hit .667 (2-for-3) with a run scored, a double and two RBIs in a pair of games last week versus Bethel College (IN).  Johnston helped Concordia to their seventh straight win of the season with a 7-4 victory in game one of the twin-bill.  That win, marked a new school record for the Cardinals.

Linder, a senior pitcher from Bellevue, Ohio, picked up the mound win in Concordia’s 7-4 victory over Bethel.  Linder went five innings with a strikeout while scattering six hits to get the victory.  Linder moved to 2-0 on the season with the win, which marked a new school record seventh straight for the Cardinals.
