GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Madonna’s Danielle Richardson and Siena Heights’ Dani Bailey take home the first softball honors of 2008 as WHAC Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

 

Richardson, a junior from Flint, Michigan, hit .600 (12-for-20) through six games with three doubles, seven RBIs and four runs scored as Madonna went 2-4.  Richardson had a big day versus #6 Dickinson State, going 4-for-4 with a run scored and two doubles.  She also threw out 60-percent of attempted base stealers from behind the plate.

Bailey, a sophomore from Blissfield, Michigan, posted a 3-2 record in the circle for the Saints.  Bailey struck out 24 batters over 28-innings of work with 10 earned runs allowed to help the Saints to a 4-6 week.  Through he five appearances, Bailey posted a 2.50 ERA.
NOTABLE SOFTBALL PLAYER PERFORMANCES
LIZ HARRISON (SIENA HEIGHTS):  Hit .519 over 10 games with three triples and six RBIs while slugging .741.
NOTABLE SOFTBALL PITCHING PERFORMANCES
JESS IRWIN (MADONNA): Went 1-2 with 29 K’s in 20 innings and a 1.75 ERA.
