The Siena Heights Men's Track 4x800 Relay Team won the 2008 NAIA Indoor Track Meet on March 7th. Robert Banks, Kent Laskowsky, Adrian Simmons, and Luke Pawlaczyk won the event and shattered the Siena Heights school record in doing so.
At the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships the Saints saw their men's 4x800 meter relay team win the National Crown. The team composed of Robert Banks, Kent Laskowsky, Adrian Simmons, and Luke Pawlaczyk took first place in the event. They ran the race in 7:41.09 and broke the school record by two seconds. The old record was set last year at 7:43.4 by Jon Kleinow, Banks, Pawlaczyk, and Terry Fisk. This is the Saints 12th national track champion in the programs history. As a team the Saints faired very well. The men took 10th place out of 47 teams. They scored a team total of 18.75 points. The women took 22nd place out of 42 teams with a score of eight points. Other highlights included Pawlaczyk with a 6th place finish in the 600 meter dash. Erving Warren took 3rd place in the high jump (6'8.75"). Chris Bullard tied for 4th place in the high jump with a leap of 6'6.75". The Distance Medley Relay team of Andrew Link, Sam Hogue, Alex Lanczki, and Robert Deo placed 8th. Greg Burns also brought home an 8th place finish with a vault of 15'3" in the pole vault. On the women's side, Trashonda Atkins placed 4th in the 60 meter hurdles, while Nicci Smith tied for 4th place in the high jump (5'5"). Kim Cramer took 6th place in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:38.93. |
