KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Aquinas College (Mich.) is ranked No. 2 and Cornerstone University climbed up to No. 3 in the final men's cross country NAIA Top-25 poll released today. First year program Indiana Tech checks in at No. 23, giving the WHAC three top-25 squads.
The Saints earned the No. 2 spot in the preseason rating and held onto the second spot every week. The Saints earned 203 total points and received all seven second place votes.
Cornerstone moved up a spot from last week to No. 3 after finishing second at the Regional VIII race behind Aquinas.
Malone College (Ohio) remained No. 1 in the final National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Cross Country Ratings. The Pioneers earned all seven first place votes and compiled 210 total points to stay in the top spot the entire season. Malone won the Region IX Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Indiana Tech checks into the poll at No. 23. The Warriors are in their first season of cross country competition and have bolted onto the scene, giving the WHAC three teams in the NAIA top-25.
Both Aquinas and Cornerstone will take their shot to dethrone Malone in the upcoming NAIA Cross Country National Championships next week. Indiana Tech will await their fate as an at-large selection to see if the qualify for the championship field.
The 2007 NAIA National Championship teams and individual qualifiers will be released on Tuesday, Nov. 6 by 5 p.m. (CST). The championship race (8K) will be held at Dr. Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. (CST).
