Grand Rapids, Mich. -- The Davenport Men’s Soccer team has had an up and down year on the soccer field, but many of the great memories from the 2007 campaign can be attributed to the play of Junior Efrain Hernandez. In the short 5-year stint of the Soccer Program, Efrain has stamped his place on the record books that will set the bar high for years to come.
Hernandez, a 5-10 Forward from Holland, MI, has posted 15 goals and 33 points through the end of the regular season which sets a new school record in both categories. He got off to a hot start in some of the biggest games of the season early on as he netted two goals in each of the Panthers wins over defending Region VIII champion Goshen College and perennial WHAC power Madonna University. He then posted what many believe to be the best individual performance by a Panthers player ever when he recorded a hat-trick in the first 17:00 of play in DU’s 4-1 win over then conference leading Siena Heights University. On the season, Efrain has posted five multi-goal games and currently leads the WHAC in goals scored and overall points. Efrain will try and help the Panthers take the next step in the conference tournament when they host Cornerstone University this Saturday,October 27 at 5:00 pm in a semifinal match-up. The game will be played at the South Christian Athletic Park in Caledonia, MI. |
