Grand Rapids, MI -- Aquinas College's Dave Hammer, head men's basketball coach, was recognized as "Men's College Coach of the Year" by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM). BCAM presented the award to Hammer at its 23rd Annual Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor Awards Banquet, Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at the Holiday Inn South in Lansing, Mich. 

The Saints have experienced higher levels of success in each of the four years that Hammer has been at the helm. In 2006-07, Aquinas was 22-12 overall, finishing second in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference but winning the WHAC post-season conference tournament championship. In Hammer's four seasons, Aquinas is 82-50 (.621), and has earned NAIA Division II post-season berths in each of the last two seasons.  

The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan was incorporated in the summer of 1976.  The purpose of BCAM is the betterment of basketball in the state of Michigan.  Thirty-one years later, BCAM has shown that it is the voice of high school basketball in Michigan.  BCAM has also gained respectability nationwide by being a leader in clinics, academic awards, scholarship programs, newsletters, awards for players and coaches, official – coach relationships, and as a policy setter for national concerns. BCAM now has more than 3,400 members, including more than 450 lifetime members.
