Grand Rapids, Mich. -- The Davenport Men's Golf Team won its first regular season title a year ago and now has followed it up with a new conference scoring record.
The team, led by head coach Phil Sweeney, has played a fantastic fall season thus far and they added to it on Monday, September 24 as they posted a team score of 286 (-2) to win WHAC Jamboree #5.  The new mark, previuously held by Cornerstone University, was established at L.E Kaufmann Golf Course in Wyoming, MI on a day that saw three Panthers players break par.  Junior Nick Boone and Freshman Kevin Palmer tied for medalist honors with stellar rounds of 70 (-2).  Freshman Zac Bested continued his outstanding fall season with a 1-under 71 and Junior Adam Thomas finished the scoring for DU with a round of 75.

The old mark of 287,  held by the Golden Eagles, was set in 2003 at Zollner Golf Club in Indiana at old WHAC foe Tri-State.  Davenport University has now finished 1st in all five WHAC Jamborees and has tallied the maximum amount of points (35), with just two events to be played at Indiana Tech. and Madonna University.  Nick Boone also leads the individual standings with a conference scoring average of 72.25.  Continue to follow the progress of the Panthers men's golf team at www.athletics.davenport.edu
