Grand Rapids, MI -- Senior Brian Hayward spent his summer perfecting his game for his final year at Aquinas. It was a summer well spent for Hayward, as he was recently named to the Grand Rapids All-City summer men’s golf league. The selection to the All-City team marks the second consecutive year in which Hayward has received the honor. Hayward finished the year with a point total of 860 points, 115 shy of point leader Tom Werkmeister, the City Golf Championship winner. Hayward was the only local golfer to beat Werkmeister this summer in one of the four major events. Hayward defeated Werkmeister in the City Match Play, and overcame a one stroke deficeit in the final two holes to win the contest. Hayward, who was named the WHAC’s individual champion in the Fall of 2006 and a two-time All-WHAC selection, will look to led the Saints in his senior. Hayward recently finished 8th place in the Saint’s first jamboree of the year. The Saints will continue league play on September 15th at Siena Heights. |
