Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Cornerstone University athletics director Dave Grube announced Tuesday that the school will be adding women’s golf for the 2007-2008 season.  The women's golf program becomes the 12th varsity sport offered by the school and the 7th women's intercollegiate team.

“I’m extremely happy that we are adding women’s golf as a varsity sport at Cornerstone University," said Grube.  "We know that West Michigan is a strong golf community and our program will now give more opportunities for women to compete while getting a quality college education."

This is the twelfth varsity sport and the seventh women’s team for the Golden Eagles that won the All-Sports Trophy in the WHAC.  The team will compete in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference and will be the seventh team in the WHAC to offer women's golf.  Scott Davis (CU men's golf assistant coach) will serve as the interim head coach for the upcoming season.
