Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Concordia University senior Jason Christopoulos and Madonna University senior Mike Orehek were named the WHAC baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively in the first weekly award in the sport for 2007.
Christopoulos, a catcher/designated hitter from Livonia, Michigan, hit .457 over 10 games in Pensacola, Florida. Christopoulos has four multi-hit games, including a 5-for-6 performance in a 22-21 loss to Judson.
He also scored five runs, had two double and four home runs while driving in 17.
Christopoulos helped Concordia to their first ever winning record on the annual spring trip, as the team went 6-4. Christopoulos finished the trip with 16 hits in 35 at-bats and slugged .857.
Orehek was named WHAC Pitcher of the Week after appearing in two games without surrendering an earned run and striking out 10.

The Livonia, Michigan native went the distance in a 6-0 MU victory over Hannibal-LaGrange to start his week. He allowed just three hits and no runs while fanning seven and walking two to pick up his first win of the season.

Orehek then pitched one-and-two-thirds innings of relief in a 3-0 loss to Judson. He struck out three and allowed one unearned run.
For the week, Orehek went eight-and-two-thirds with three hits allowed, and struck out 10 posting a 0.00 earned run average.

Dave Herrick, Madonna: Hit .500 (13-for-26) with three doubles, a home run, three runs scored and 11 RBI's.
