Grand Rapids, MI -- The Cornerstone Men’s Soccer team followed up their regular season title with the WHAC Tournament Championship after a 2-1 victory at home over #2 seeded Madonna today.  The Golden Eagles got off to a fast start, taking a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the contest and never looked back.

Sam Oberlin (Lowell, MI) put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 with a shot that deflected off a Crusader player and found the back of the net.
 
Cornerstone increased their lead to 2-0 in the 49th minute of play on a Tom Skilling goal.  The goal was assisted by Oberlin, who sent a cross across the face of the goal and found Skilling on the back post.
 
The Crusaders got on the board in the 53rd minute when Doran Drai sent a free kick across the face of the goal that Darrel Quinn headed into the net at the far post.
 
CU outshot MU 15-9 for the game.
 
With the win, the Golden Eagles move on to the NAIA Regional Tournament as the top WHAC seed and will host the #2-seed Indiana Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th. 
 
Madonn also advances to regional play as the WHAC #2-seed.
