Grand Rapids, MI --  After helping lead his team to their second ever WHAC regular season men’s soccer championship, Cornerstone University senior mid-fielder Tom Skilling has been named WHAC men’s soccer Player-of-the-Year by conference coaches.  Skilling scored eight goals on the year and was second in the league in points and assists.

In all, Cornerstone has two players selected to the WHAC first team while runner-up Madonna also boasts a pair of selections in seniors Darrel Quinn and Pat Griffin. 

Third place finisher Siena Heights boasted the most first-team selections with three.  Matt Konopinski, Adam Chmiel and Jason Blickensdorf who was named the first team goalkeeper.

Golden Eagle head coach Mark Bell was named the conference Coach of the Year after guiding his team to the league title and an 8-1-3 record in conference play, Bell’s squad is the top-seed heading into the league tournament this week.

Aquinas College coach Joe Veal was recognized by his peers as the WHAC Coach of Character.  In the first season of the award, it is presented to the coach who best expemplifies the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative; respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
