LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) honored three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) schools as Top All-Academic Teams for their team grade point averages during the 2011-12 academic year. Davenport registered a 3.455 GPA for sixth in the NAIA, Madonna had a 3.420 for 10th, and Siena Heights was 14th with a 3.36. The NFCA Academic Awards program honors four collegiate divisions (NCAA DI-DII-DIII, and NAIA) for their submitted GPAs from last season.

Davenport's 2012 squad placed six players on the NAIA Scholar-Athlete list: Sam Cole, Katie Cornman, Ali Dawson, Karlee Despres, Staci Stadler, and Liz Veltman, and was an NAIA Scholar-Team selection.

Headlined by NAIA Scholar-Athletes Arielle Cox and Kiley Thornton along with CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District selection Gina Sykes, the Crusaders had the fourth highest GPA among the 11 Madonna teams last year and the program was honored as a Scholar-Team in July by the NAIA.

SHU's softball team also received the NAIA Scholar-Team award. Brittney Rhodes, Jessica Lampkowski, and Tonya Berta were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the Saints.
