(TOURNAMENT RESULTS) - Davenport finished the regular season undefeated in conference play (8-0-0) to win the conference crown and claim the top seed in the 2012-13 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Soccer Tournament. The Panthers, currently ranked No. 25 in the country, will host eighth-seeded Marygrove in the opening round. Marygrove made the cut of the top eight teams in its first season as a member of the WHAC.
As a team, Davenport ranks in the top 50 in the nation in five stat categories: #10 in Total Assists (46); #13 in Assists per Game (2.71); #25 in Total Goals (50); #31 in Goals per Game (2.94); and #45 in Total Shutouts (5). In league play, Davenport allowed only three goals, 11 overall.
Second-seeded Indiana Tech finished tied with Cornerstone at 6-2-0, but won the tiebreaker thanks to a 5-1 win in the last game of the season. IT hosts seventh-seeded Concordia in the second half of the bracket. Cornerstone, #3, hosts #6 Aquinas and No. 5 Siena Heights travels to No. 4 Madonna. All games are played on campus sites.
Last year, Siena Heights took a thrilling 2-1 victory in the championship game over regular season champ Aquinas. The winner of this year's tournament receives the WHAC's automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship opening round Nov. 17. Click here for tournament updates.
