The record broken was his own set at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational in September.  His time of 28:54, which bettered the record by 31 seconds, was good for 41st place. He was followed by LTU teammates Brandon Clover (Lakeland HS) at 30:05, Matt Cummings (Livonia HS) at 32:17, and Eric Derney (Lakeland HS) at 32:34. 

"I am very proud of the guys who competed in the race today. Each one ran their all-time personal best for the 8k in the race," head coach Eric Green said.  "I had a couple of our runners getting over injuries who sat out as a precaution, which did not help us score as a team. We have our regional meet next week in Grand Rapids. It is very important to have all our runners healthy to participate."

The Jerimiah Harrgett Harrier Classic was named for a former runner who Green coached at OCC a couple of years ago. "Harrgett ended up taking his own life," Green said. "He was one of the toughest runners I have ever coached, and I was happy to bring my current team to run the race named for him.  He touched a lot of lives and is still deeply missed."
