Brad Lyons of Concordia has been tabbed the NAIA National Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Lyons was selected based on his performances from Sept. 3 -9 and chosen from a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings. Lyons is the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) athlete to receive the national honor for the 2012-13 season.
Lyons, a 6-foot, senior forward from Walled Lake, Mich., established a school record for a single-match. He was the offense for the Cardinals in their 6-1 victory against Purdue Calumet (Ind.) on Sept. 7. His six goals broke the previous school record done twice, with the most recent occurrence coming in 2003. Lyon's effort was one shy of the NAIA single-game high this season. Lyons ranks fourth in the NAIA in total season goals (8) and seventh in points (16).
