CALEDONIA, Mich. - Indiana Tech shot a 329 team total for +45 par to win the season's first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Golf Jamboree hosted by Davenport at Stonewater Country Club. Lourdes sophomore Heather Steiner took individualist honors with a school-record round of 79. Tech placed three golfers in the top five finishers to best second-place Aquinas by six strokes. The Saints finished with a team total of 335 on the par 71 course.
Megan Garrison led the Warriors, tying with Alicia Flood of Aquinas for the second slot with a round of 80. Fellow Warriors Lizzie Campbell and Haley Larson followed with rounds of 81 and 82 respectively. In addition to Flood, Kristina Raiz finished in the top five for Aquinas with a round of 82 to tie for fith place.
Steiner, a transfer from Findlay (Ohio), became the first Gray Wolf on the women's side to break 80 in competition and top the old school record by two strokes.
The next WHAC Jamboree, hosted by Madonna, is set for Sept. 21 at Salem Hills Golf Club in Northville, Mich.
