Fort Wayne, Ind. - Indiana Tech and the Director of Athletics Martin Neuhoff are proud to announce Gonzalo Vivas as the new Head Men's Tennis Coach and Raquel Vescovi as the Head Women's Tennis Coach.

Gonzalo Vivas was an assistant coach on the Huntington University men's tennis team under head coach Kreg Eckert for the past two seasons. There, he helped guide the Foresters to the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament Championship in 2010-11 and advanced into the NAIA National Tournament for the first time.

"I am really excited for this opportunity to develop the Indiana Tech team and I am looking forward to a great year working with the players," Vivas said.

Vivas, from Lima, Peru, is a 2010 graduate of Huntington and spent three seasons as part of the Forester tennis team. While playing at HU, he was a three-time MCC All-Conference selection, and in his final two years he teamed up with his brother to win the MCC Doubles Championship.

Vivas was also the doubles finalist in the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament in 2007 and won the ITA Midwest Regional Singles Tournament in 2009, which qualified him for the ITA National Tournament where he finished sixth.

Raquel Vescovi begins her first year as a head coach after an extremely successful three-year career for the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Mastodons.

Vescovi was an All-Conference selection in her first year as a member of the Mastodons, leading the team to their first league title in women's tennis. She guided IPFW back to the Summit League finals the next year where they captured their second straight championship.

In her senior season she collected the most wins on the team taking the Mastodons to their third consecutive Summit League championship match where they were edged by Oral Roberts 4-3.

Vescovi, from Campinas, Sao Paulo, is a 2012 graduate of IPFW where she earned degrees in interpersonal and organizational communication as well as media and public communication.

After the Tech men's team made the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament this season and the women's team just missed, the Warrior tennis teams will look to take the next step in 2012-13 under the direction of Vivas and Vescovi.
