LIVONIA, Mich. - Madonna held off a late surge by Aquinas on the final day of play to capture the 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Golf Spring Tournament at Whispering Willows Golf Course.
The Crusaders, who led after the first day with a team score of 340, shot a 347 on day two to outlast Aquinas and Davenport, both 13 strokes behind at 353 after round one. Aquinas matched Madonna's second-day total of 347 to pull away for second place. Davenport finished third with 716.
Madonna junior Michelle Hall claimed individual medalist honors for the 36-hole event with a round that included eight pars for an 83 to finish with a 165. Hall also repeated as the league's Individual Champion. Kasey Bylsma of Davenport took second place with rounds of 83 and 84 for a 167. Taylour Giesen of Aquinas finished one stroke back at 168 (86/82) for third place.
Madonna now earns the WHAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships May 15-18 at Link Hills Country Club in Greenville, Tenn.
