Women's Soccer - Wed, Nov. 2, 2011
Aquinas College plowed undefeated through the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) with a perfect 6-0-0 league record. The Saints averaged 2.39 goals per game and posted eight shutouts. As the top seed, Aquinas received a bye in the first round of the conference tournament and will host the winner of #5 Cornerstone/#4 Indiana Tech game in the semifinals.
First Team All-Conference
Senior forward Jaime Tomaszewski and senior keeper Kelsey Duley were named the conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. Tomazewski led the WHAC in scoring, averaging one goal and .27 assists per game. Duley maintained a 0.94 goals against average and recorded all of the Saints' shutouts.
Saints' head coach Mark Fales earned Coach of the Year honors after leading Aquinas to a 15-3-0 record and his second conference title. He guided the Saints to the crown in the 2007-08 season. Indiana Tech head coach Jim Lipocky was named Coach of Character for best representing the five core values of the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative - Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
In addition to All-Conference honors, two other honors were announced - the Champions of Character Team and All-Academic (for juniors and above in academic standing and 3.25 GPA).
